The Fine Arts Society of Milton is committed to
FASM's MARCH SHOW - "From Heart to Hand"
FASM is a non-profit organization, existing through the assistance and participation of its members, local groups and business and the Town of Milton.
FASM is a member of Arts Milton, an umbrella organization devoted to the promotion of fine arts, performing arts and literary arts.
As supporters of the community, FASM awards the Leigh Cockburn Award and the Albert Casson Award to local artist winners in the Milton Fall Fair.
What is FASM all about?
The Fine Arts Society of Milton was formed after local artists exhibited work for the Mayor's 1997 New Year's Levee at Milton Town Hall. Founding members include Frank Sisson, Marion Detlor, Anne Elliot, Bill LaFerla, Betty Basset, Ursula Reese, Miriam Hynek, Maureen Casteller, Janet Quinton. 2007 marks FASM’s 10th Anniversary.FASM events are continually growing. To-date the organization features 3 annual events: From Heart to Hand Art Show & Sale; “FASM at the Festival”, Arts Milton Festival (formerly Art in Victoria Park); and the self-guided FASM Studio Tour. FASM members have also participated in joint collaborative events with community groups including Women of Note, the Rotary Club, St. Paul’s United Church, Martindale Gardens, to name a few.
Workshops are held throughout the year. The one-day courses are open to the public and members and provide an opportunity for participants to experiment in new mediums, develop skills and meet new people.
Fine art isn’t the only reason members get together. FASM members also meet in early summer for its annual Pot Luck Dinner and Auction where members’ culinary arts are displayed, critiqued and enjoyed by all. The evening is completed with a fun auction of ‘gently-used’ and new items provided by its members and sponsors.
